You know Summer is really here when you can get Sweet Corn.
I get a text from my husband at 7am this morning..."Sweet Corn is ready! Please go buy some!"
So I get up early, brush my teeth and head over to the farm. They open at 10AM. It's now 9:30AM.
I get there and there is a line already....of about 250 people. The parking lot is FULL. So I stand in line for half-an-hour, talking to the old women in front of me. I miss talking to an old woman, believe it or not! ;)
Lutz Sweet Corn is the best in this area. People wait anxiously for the opening day...today. Harvey Lutz said they had 5 1/2 wagons full in the barn, so there would be plenty for everyone. And at only $3 for 14 ears of corn, they make some $$$$$$$$!!!!!!
So, I pick Bina up in Cleveland at 1:30 this afternoon...come home, throw some Italian sausage and peppers on the grill and eat SWEET CORN till it comes out of our ears!!! I can't wait!
Then on Sunday, I drive back home with Bina and then fly home on Wednesday. I plan on taking lots and lots of pictures of Ariana and lots of video too, since she told Bina, "Beth will be amazed at the things I can do!"

You better stock up in case I ever make it out there! I loves me some corn of the cob! I think because it looks phallic!!!
My mom's family are farmers, and every year we have a corn boil. We used to grow our own sweet corn, but you gotta hide it in a field among the regular corn so it doesn't get stolen, and it's just a huge hassle.
So we still have the party, but pay someone else to grow it. :)
I love me some sweet corn!!!

We eat it weekly, until the local stuff is gone! I used to steam corn in the husk for my club picnic- a pickup truck load..We charged 25 cents an ear, including a butter dip!
