Went bowling yesterday..
well I didn't actually bowl, but my husband did, and I went with him.
It was his sister's birthday...so there were maybe 20 people there.
Now, I've been in this "family" for 23 years, ok?
So why, oh WHY am I constantly over-looked and treated like a leper?
My husband gets introduced to everyone...but not me. I'm standing right next to him, but there's no mention of me at all. Not even from my husband. he talks and laughs with everyone..just the little life of the party, and then we get in the car and it's complete silence. Nothing new there tho.
Ya, know...I take one step forward and start to feel sort of ok about myself. I'm trying to get my photography off the ground and I actually have 3 bookings this week! woohoo!!!
then something like this happens, and I'm right back under the rock again. And this rock is BIG...HUGE.
I am feeling very invisible today so I've got to get out and do something about it. it's a nice day, so I'm off with my camera....

Do not EVER, EVER let any snarky stuck up mean person/people make you feel invisible. You are the most wonderful, kind, loving person I know and it is THEIR fucking loss that they treat you this way, NOT yours. And they believe in God so much and DARE treat someone this way? TO HELL WITH THEM ALL! I WILL COME THERE AN WHIP THEIR ASSES (or pay someone to do it!) LOL.

Hey, jump in there and introduce yourself. Pretend everyone thinks you're wonderful and operate on that feeling. Act confident, smile, and step up. Eventually you'll start believing it. Don't let any of them define who you are and how you feel about yourself.

You are AWESOME, Beth. And it absolutely sucks that your husband and his family are that way. You can't change them, (much as we'd like, a proper ass-whooping wouldn't do much, they'd still be jerks), but you can remember that you are an amazing, talented woman, and your boys are NOT going to treat their wives like that, because YOU raised them.
And mucho congrats on the 3 bookings! I am super excited for you!!!!!

You are not nor are you capable of being invisible. If they can't see you, those people are blind. It ain't you, it's them.
Don't let them have that much power over you or your life. You are a vibrant, beautiful and powerful woman, and they can't take that away from you.
For years I was the party! Organizer, social butterfly, the joke teller, or whatever was needed.. I decided a couple of years ago it might be someone else's turn.. Now I really don't seek out introductions or attention.. At first I felt neglected, but that passed... It became more fun to listen and watch the antics, rather than lead them!
Just because you aren't acknowledged, does not mean you aren't fabulous! You need to just introduce yourself and make a joke about how the "family" seems to have forgotten the wife of many years. Embarrass them and let them know you won't take that garbage!

I feel for you and I understand that of which you speak. I feel your loneliness. Some people are lousy at introductions and you may assert yourself into the process and chalk it up to bad manners on their part. Only the Lord REALLY knows your true beautiful identity. Keep putting your best foot forward. The rewards in life seem to come too few and far between. Do not be bitter. Keep loving and giving and you WILL reap that which you sow.
I'd say you did the right thing. Off with the camera when ever you feel that way. That feeling you get will only empower your talents with photography. Use it as a plus.
