damn you oprah!

So I broke down and watched Oprah today.

I know, I know.

But it opened my eyes to some things. god I hate that!

I've decided to TRY and go vegan.

that's right...good bye 5 Guys....Arby's.....ARBY"S!!!! OH LORD!!!!

But they showed a slaughter house. and that did me in. I LOVE animals..and those poor cattle...I hope I don't ever forget it. and besides..one guy lost 11 lbs in one week! ELEVEN POUNDS IN A WEEK!!!!! WOOHOO!

So, I do want to be healthier....I lost alot of weight last year, and have since gained some of it back...not much...5 pounds..but I can SEE those 5 pounds. and I want to be healthy. I have 3 grandbabies to live for!

and I LOVE beans and rice and grains and veggies...not crazy about soy milk or soy cheese, but I suppose I can get used to it, right? :) I already do vegan about 3 days a week without even knowing it or even trying..so what's 4 more days?

Im gonna take this 1 day at a time...

Is Oprah going vegan?

I'm kindof surprised she had a show like this on (didn't see it) but remembering the time that she got sued by the beef industry.

I always buy organic proteins and look for cage free eggs. Spend extra for specialty chicken, beef, wild caught, etc.

With my issues I have to have protein but would love to eat so much more rice, grains, etc. I would be a good vegan.

I like unsweetened almond milk.

Sorry but I'm hooked on the Paleo Diet these days. That means meat is Ok but grains and legumes are not. And no dairy or refined sugar. And I've never felt physically and mentally better.

Vegan? or Vegetarian??? No milk no eggs either?

Want some tofu recipes? The stuff is good if you view it as it's own food, not as a crap meat substitute...that's why soy cheese is so gross.

Good luck on your diet... but the one question I have for slimmies as yourself is, do you worry about losing the curves and your shapley figure by diet or will you up your PT so that you replace the fat with muscle..?

froggy: oprah tried it for a week...her whole staff did. she is "vegan-ish"

Kailyn: I love meat too...but man, after seeing that slaughter house...I have to rethink this whole meat thing.

rocky: im going hard core and trying vegan! and I would LOVE some recipes! going to the library today...tho all the vegan cookbooks will probably be gone after oprah yesterday! ;)

mark: I don't think the "curves" are going anywhere...I had hips and ass at a very young age! ;) but I DO need to up the PT...I'd love to have MUSCLES!!!

Hooo Boy. We're moving towards a meat free diet, but I'm dragging my family kicking and screaming. I'm not sure I could give up cheese and eggs.

That being said, GOOD FOR YOU! I'll be interested to hear how it's working out for you.
