Today is my mom's birthday.

Do y'all celebrate the birthday of dead people?

I mean, like, have a PARTY. with cake. and candles. and stuff.

I don't.

I remember that person on their birthday, but I don't have an all out party.

But I know someone who does!!!

Ya, birthday's are hard, aren't they? I don't do a party but I do have some quiet reflection time of that person (my dad) and hope he knows that everything is okay with us.

My sister died one month before her 45th birthday, and we were so distraught and depressed when the first one rolled a month after her funeral, that we decided, on the spur of the moment, to get the hell out of our houses and celebrate anyway. We all felt so much better for celebrating her instead of grieving, that the tradition stuck. 2 more days, and we'll be celebrating her 47th. :-)

I don't have an answer. Mom's birthday is Halloween. That's weird.
