So onmy birthday, I had to renew my drivers license.
No big deal.
Till I had to take the eye test.
I pressed my forehead on the little thingie-do and the lady says, "read the 3 line"
(the third line? WHERE THE HELL IS THE THIRD LINE? I CAN'T SEE THE FIRST LINE!)
I had to really really squint to see the letters and numbers. And I had to repeat it 3 times.
But she went ahead and renewed my license. (even tho she probably shouldn't have)
So I am making an appointment to get my eyes checked, again. they are getting worse. Im already legally blind, but it's really no big deal, cuz it can be corrected with glasses/contacts.
But what will I do if it CAN'T be corrected?
I CANNOT LOSE MY DRIVING PRIVILEGES! I CANNOT BE DEPENDENT ON SOMEONE ELSE TO TAKE ME WHEREVER i WANT/NEED TO GO!
Oh goodness.....Im askeered.

Laser surgery? My two SILs had it. The Engineer has considered it. I only wear my glasses to drive but also have to hold things further out to read small print.

Im not really a candidate for laser surgery... :/ eye dr said it wouldn't help any at this stage.
Both my Mom and my Husband are stunningly blind, and they're fine...don't fuss, it's amazing what they can do, and hey! You could find the first two lines, that's got to be good.
They told the man that his eyes are so bad that even if they did laser surgery he'd still have to wear glasses, not worth the effort, he has bifocals now too. They kind of frustrate him though.
Same concerns here. Contacts can still correct it enough, but I worry about the day they won't - and I'm not a candidate for the laser either.
Which makes me wonder how Hubby's 93-year-old uncle recently DROVE himself to the Registry to renew his license. His new one is good for 5 years....
rocky: same here...still have to wear glasses. I just don't want to have to be dependent on someone. UGH.
